National Best Friends Day

Today is National Best Friends Day!!  What a wonderful day to pay tribute to my bestie.

Let me do my best to honour an amazing woman in my life – her name is Stefanie.

Stefanie was in my kindergarten class and now we’ve been best friends for over 30+ years (best friends don’t reveal each others’ ages!).  Our dads volunteered to take ten Girl Scout Brownies camping one weekend, and while our dads  had more fun than the Brownies, it was the start of a friendship that has endured many decades.

We have gone through the toughest of times, heartbreak, lost loved ones, weddings, marriage endings, illnesses, career changes and the trials of raising our 3 children (yep both of us have 2 girls, 1 boy).

Stefanie was there for me several years back when I had to leave OZ to return to the US to tend to a family crisis. My plane landed and immediately she was right there organising a place for me to stay, a car to use, furniture, everything I could think of, but couldn’t because I was severely stressed.  I am forever grateful for her unwavering support then and now.  We always manage to cheer each other on through day-to-day struggles but also major life decisions.

Today we live in different continents (USA and AUS), yet we still manage to stay connected and I am so grateful for this.   Here is a photo from when Stefanie came to Australia for the first time and we played tourists for the week.  Thank you Stef for our friendship.  Love you long time and Happy Best Friends’ Day. xx
