New Year New Me

I’ve decided to take a different approach this year because “when we keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome”, well we keep doing the same day over and over. And since it’s a new year, I want to change things up with you.

First I want to be more honest with all of you, more vulnerable, hence my raw unfiltered no makeup photo above 😬😬.  I don’t know about you but 2020 is merged with 2021 – both are just really bad years, and I spent way too many miserable days feeling sad and guilty. It felt like a never-ending dark cloud.  There were so many unmet expectations – milestone birthday parties, family gatherings, overseas visits (Greece and NZ = sad) and the inability to socialise with my own kids, let alone family and friends. Our Christmas was cancelled.  Darn Covid.

And on the days I did get a glimmer of brightness, I couldn’t help but feel guilty because so many others were losing their loved ones or separated from their families.  I finally realised that SO MANY of us are struggling with our kids, our weight, our mental health and our self-doubts about whether we are a good mum, dad, partner, friend or employee.  It was a continuous loop!

And I’m over it. I’ve decided to STOP the madness and grab by the balls this thing everyone keeps talking about – RESILIENCE.  One of my hurdles with my business was that I didn’t feel like making content when I was down, and this kept making me feel more like a failure.  And in the spirit of honesty, I can tell you that the majority of my clients are from referrals, Great yes! But I would love more people (more strangers) to view my online presence and decide “I want to work with her!”  And while I get lots of website views (Thank you Chris for helping me master Google Analytics), I am not where I want to be in converting viewers to clients.

This brings me to my point: I’m going to put of myself out there more, not worry about my grey hairs or days I’m feeling ‘phat’. 😉  You’re welcome for my raw photo attached in this newsletter. Because we had a Covid scare, I missed my hair appointment and the hairdresser closed for 3 weeks.  Here I am. You’re welcome.

My goal this year is to produce more relevant content, a day in the life of Robin, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, and mostly just little snippets that might inspire someone to make a positive change in their life.  And if they decide to go for it and change jobs, that will make it ALL WORTH IT!

So stay tuned for some new content. I’ve been watching some e-learning webinars which has made me reconsider how I might create some online courses and I’ve decided my first topic in January will be HOW TO CHANGE CAREERS.  So many people struggle with this, and I want to help them achieve success.  You can do it too!  If you’re curious, here is a link to one of my videos on When is it time to change careers?

Also if you’re looking for some uplifting viewing content in a sea of Covid Omicron news, there are 2 shows on Netflix I HIGHLY recommend:  First is Queer Eye Season 6 where they take down and out people who are working for a good cause and revitalise them and pursue their purpose, and second is Old People’s Home for 4 year-olds where they conduct an experiment by pairing senior citizens with 4 year-olds and then studying their physical and mental health improvements for both age groups. It’s amazing and if it doesn’t make you cry, you are STONE.

Social media always HAS BEEN and will CONTINUE TO BE a struggle for me but I’m determined to share more if it helps more people find inspiration or a life they will love.

Don’t know where this is heading, but let’s do it together.

Thanks for reading and much love,

Robin
